September and October Events in Charlotte That Will Make You Happy

Fall is rolling in, and that means a whole bunch of fun fall activities are on the horizon for those living in our Charlotte, NC apartments. No matter what your entertainment preferences may be, the Queen City definitely has something going on that will make you happy.

We have put together this run down of the more fabulous events coming your way. The hardest part will be choosing which ones to attend… unless you are feeling up to hitting them all!

SCarowinds, September 14 – October 28

Sept 14-Oct 28  For those that like their amusement parks with a side of haunted house, SCarowinds is the perfect way to enjoy the Halloween thrills. In addition to the coasters, the brave souls will find mazes, scare zones, and spooky shows.

The Amazing Maize Race, September 15 – November 4

The Rural Hill farms hosts an awesome, and difficult, corn maze to celebrate the fall season. Those attempting the maze are given a blank map and have to find the pieces scattered around the trails before finding their way back out. It is a good family activity recommended for kids over the age of five.

Festival in the Park, September 21-23

This huge arts and crafts festival takes place in Freedom Park. There are over 200 artists and craft vendors that make an appearance here, and there are also live performances from some of the city's theater troupes. It is a good idea to carpool or Uber, as parking can be a bit tricky.

Flow Fest, September 22

Let the U.S. National Whitewater Center bring out your inner yogi at this one-day yoga event. Among the trees and the rivers, there will be about 20 different yoga classes going on. Plus, there will be a race and multiple vendors on site.

Charlotte Film Festival, September 26-30

This year marks the 10th anniversary for this Queen City Independent film festival. It takes place on the South side of the city in the Ayrsley Grand Cinemas.

Rock the Grill, September 28-29

Just across the border in Rock Hill, SC (about 30 minutes from the city) you can enjoy a two-day BBQ festival. It is a free event that also includes kid-friendly activities and a car show.

Charlotte Oktoberfest, September 29

Head to the Bojangles Coliseum for a beer event like no other. Your ticket will include tastings from over 75 different breweries, many of them local. There will also be food trucks on site for chowing down.

Carolina Renaissance Festival, September 29-November 18

Every weekend in the fall is a chance to step back in time to the days of jousting knights in armor and fair maidens in colorful gowns. You can gnaw on a turkey leg while drinking beer from a pewter mug. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Hola Charlotte Festival, October 6

Hola is Charlotte's way of celebrating Latino Heritage Month. Uptown turns into an eating, dancing, and Hispanic culture extravaganza.

Race for the Cure, October 6

This is a 5k that takes place in Uptown to help raise funds to fight breast cancer. The event includes family activities, games, and beer from Blue Blaze Brewery.

Crabs & Beer, October 13

Three Spirits Brewery hosts an all you can eat crab event that features fresh steamed blue crabs, corn on the cob, and craft beer.

Pineville Fall Festival, October 19-20

A free event that takes place in the park, the Pineville Fall festival is a family friendly good time. Arts, crafts, live music, and rides can be enjoyed until 10 pm.

Carolina Balloonfest, October 19-21

Take a short trip out of the city to the Statesville Regional airport to gaze in wonder at the hundreds of hot air balloons taking to the sky. If you plan ahead, you can do more than just watch them rise, by booking your very own ride in one of the colorful balloons.

SouthEnd Wine Fest, October 20

This festival has been voted the best Queen City wine event two years in a row by the Charlotte magazine. Wine lovers can head to SouthEnd where they can sample offerings from over 25 different vineyards (better keep Uber on stand-by.)

BLA/ALT Free Music Festival, October 20

This is an all-day music festival taking place at Camp North End that celebrates the musical stylings of black alternative artists. This free event is an intimate affair showcasing local and regional talent.

Hope Haven's Trunk or Treat, October 26

A family event for trick or treating in a controlled and safe environment. Over 300 little ghouls come seeking candy and treats.
 


As you can see, there is plenty of fun to be had in the city this fall. Make sure you plan a little time to explore one of these events going on just a short drive away from your Charlotte, NC apartment!
