November is generally considered the start of the holiday season, and it is when the feasting and partying begins. All that holiday cheer and excitement usually makes people more social and longing for activities that will get them outside their Charlotte, NC apartments before the cold weather sets in and makes everyone want to stay in under a warm blanket. Use the rest of the milder weather for the year to explore the different goings-on around the city! You'll have plenty of time for blankets and cups of hot cocoa later.

Nickelodeon's Double Dare Live, November 2

Calling all 90s kids!!! Your favorite game show is coming to Ovens Auditorium, and it is about to get slimy. Join the legendary host, Marc Summers, as he brings the classic game show to this Charlotte stage. It will be an evening of pie throwing, trivia asking, obstacle course kind of fun…and someone is definitely getting a bucket of green slime dumped on them! If you want to get even more from your DD experience, opt for the VIP ticket and you will receive premium seating as well as a chance to have your picture taken with Marc and Robin Russo! Tickets to the event start at $30 and are on sale now…hurry before you hear the game over sound. This family-friendly event is perfect for parents with children or adults that just want to reminisce about their childhood days.

15 Short Film Festival, November 3

Heist Brewery on North Davidson is hosting this year's film festival, a Charlotte staple since 2003. Since its inception, the 15 Short Film Festival has attracted film-makers from around the world. Each film has to clock in at under 15 minutes and must fit into one of five categories: Drama, Experimental, Comedy, Animation, or Documentary. The festival has shown films that went on to receive Oscar nods and has showcased creators from over 20 different countries. Come spend an evening drinking craft beer and enjoying a little art for art's sake.

Sushi & Cocktail Class, November 6

Spend a Tuesday evening learning a new skill! Essex Bar & Bistro, on South Tryon, is offering a special sushi making class. You can learn to make a California Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. By the time you are done, you will be a sushi master. Tickets are $55 each, and they include the sushi making class, 2 cocktails, and small bites to nibble on while you learn. Essex is a premium craft cocktail bar and gastropub located in Uptown that uses the freshest ingredients in all of their menu items and quality crafted beverages. Use this learning opportunity as an excuse to get out of your Charlotte, NC apartment on a weeknight!

Bob Dylan Concert, November 9

Music legend, Bob Dylan, is an American singer-songwriter who has been considered to be one of the most influential figures in pop music for over five decades. His most celebrated work came from the 1960's era when he was called the "voice of a generation". Some of his most famous pieces include Blowin in the Wind and The Times They Are a-Changin. This legendary performer will only be in Charlotte for one night performing at Ovens Auditorium. Tickets start at $62.

Charlotte Auto Show, November 14-18

Ladies and gentlemen…start your engines! The Charlotte Convention center will be the home of 300 brand new vehicles from over 30 car manufactures for four days in November. If you are in the market for a new vehicle or just feel the need to soak up that new car smell, head to Uptown, and take a look at all the newest models. Each day will have ride and drive opportunities, so you can get a chance to see the vehicle in action. Chevy, Ford, Mazda and Toyota are participating in the ride and drive portion. In addition to gawking at the new cars, there will also be family activities and the Handbags, Heels, & Horsepower fundraiser which benefits pediatric cancer research. Tickets for the automobile fun start at only $8.

Ride & Seek MTB Adventure Race, November 18

The U.S. National Whitewater Center is challenging all mountain bikers in the area to jump and berm at this year's Ride & Seek. This marks the third year that biking teams can battle their way through the 40+ miles of trails to complete as many checkpoints as possible in order to be crowned champion. This event is open to both male and female teams, and those that register to ride will be given a Recover Brands shirt. Even if you don't have plans to ride, you can join the festivities at the center. As always, there are zip lines to ride, rope courses to play on, and if you can stand the cold, whitewater rafting. With a restaurant and plenty of bars as well, you can easily spend your whole day there.

Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade, November 22

This annual Thanksgiving Day tradition started in 1947 and has grown exponentially over the last 71 years. Come celebrate the turkey day with a parade! Kids love this event.

Holidays at the Gardens, November 23-January 6

Kick off the race to Christmas Day with this annual event at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. This year may just be their biggest year yet! Live music, twinkling lights, holiday shopping, and warm apple cider will make your experience at the gardens one you will never forget. This year they have added a musically-orchestrated topiary display that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. The event runs daily except Christmas Day.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Milwaukee Bucks, November 26

Come root for the home team when the Hornets take on the Bucks at Spectrum Arena. Enjoy a little basketball on a Monday evening because tickets start at just $10!

Potted Potter, November 27-December 2

Potterheads won't want to miss this epic performance by Dan and Jeff. The duo takes all 7 books of J.K. Rowling's epic series and shove them into one 70-minute show. Experience Hogwarts like you never have before at the McGlohon Theatre at Spirit Square. This show is recommended for those 6 and up, and tickets start at $25.
